Found a new item I am gonna have to start saving for. These cat cages allow your inside cats go outside safely. My babies MUST have one of these!

How fun this would be for them!

See the black tube coming from the window? The kitties can just walk out into their outside enclosure anytime they want!

My Jai would be out there in the sun and when it rains.....she LOVES playing in the water. But her furry fanny would be in the house when it got dark......my cat hates being out in the dark.

The only thing holding me back is the cost. OH MY GOODNESS I was shocked when I saw it would cost so much to plunk one of these babies out on the patio for the furies to play in.

Guess that third job is in my future after all :o)

Happy Pumpkin Month! October kicks off the holidays in my Home Sweet Home. This year is gonna end on a really bright note........and we are actually gonna decorate for the holidays this year.

Good news: After a week and two days training I spent my first day on my new job.

This job is a real change from sitting behind a computer at the desk all day. I am now known as a "Recovery Support Assistant". Working with ladies that really WANT to remove all kinds of drug addictions from their lives is gonna be very rewarding even tho I have very limited interaction with the ladies.

While in OKC for training I stayed at a Marriott. Due to some ugly stains (I hope it was just stains) I had house keeping come up and change out the sheets on my very comfy bed. Then, sometime during the nite I ended up with a bug bite in a not so awesome place :o( I am now on antibiotics for a nasty, HUGE, inflamed bite.

For my second day on the NEW job I woke this morning without my voice. Called the doctors office again with an oh not so sexy whisper. They think the antibiotic I am taking for the bug bite will take care of this problem also. Not feeling so great today but seriously how can one call in sick on the second day and hope to keep their job?

Now that I am employed I am so looking forward to not only receiving a full time pay check but also maybe being a small help in some ladies recovery.....even if it is just giving a smile for the next few days.

Cold weather has arrived in Oklahoma. I brought in all my tropical plants for the winter. The poor plants are in morning for losing all that lovely sun shine. (Just heard we are gonna freeze again tonite!)

I met a lady from Chelsea that loves art and photography but does not have a blog. I also got to meet Lisa, I have been reading her blog for the last year or so. Go over and look. She made awesome flowers to put on her project.

Learned alot, met new people, came home tired to the bone......good experience.

***forgot: since the sun was still shinning when I got back into Tulsa I went over into the "bad" side and got some takeout of our favorite Chinese food for supper and Lunch today...........YUM....life is gooood. However, we still miss Ming Palace. Wish we could find a good Chinese place in the safe part of Tulsa for supper and an eatable Chinese place here in town. I know. I. want. it. ALL.

Today the temp is UNDER 100 degrees....beautiful!

I slept thru my alarm today for the first time in years. Ended up missing a chance to attend services with a friend at her church. Gonna have to give it another try next Sunday....I am sure she forgave my error :o)

Found this pic on the side bar of Face Book. I want to get a nail done in Miss Kitty! So very cute.

Since my camera has taken a vacation without me (no idea where it is) I have to use what I can get off the net. Guess it is time to clean house!

Car Salesman

Well, I found out about the "scam" I thought (and still believe is) was going on at JG Chev.

Since I used to be in banking I called several of the good folks I knew back in the day at Tulsa banks on Monday. Each had heard of this practice at Jim Glover Chev. They had dealt with the unhappy customers. My loan officer here summed it up best: "Girl, you have just witnessed CRAPPY customer service!"

Seems this is a ploy to get customers in a car at a price and rate they can afford and of course think is wonderful. Then the Chevy place calls the customer back. In this case it took FOUR DAYS, remember the car was purchased on TUESDAY (BEFORE NOON) and they did not call back until SATURDAY. So let's see 6 hrs + 24 hrs + 24 hrs + 24 hrs + 6 hrs = 84 hours for them to come up with a call back. (The good people at Glover say it "could" take 24 to 48 hours.....really??)

The finance manager that was spoken to on Wednesday (not the original person) at Jim Glover when the car was returned to the dealership decided HE did NOT want the business since the person buying the car was upset, (he did not like the voice the buyer was using {soft and controlled} cause this sort of "thing" is bad for HIS blood pressure { no NOT the customer, JG employees}) and had went to TTCU to arrange for their own financing as they did not want the Chev place to get ANY kick back for the paper re writing due to their rudeness. HE DID NOT WANT THE BUSINESS and thru his irritation let it slip all the buyer need to do was make a down payment to get the 2.9% finance rate. Of course this little point was not disclosed to the buyer when the phone call was made on Saturday. Go figure.

I went to two other Chevy places, one here in town, told them what had occurred at JGC and they had heard about this practice and had complaints about JGC also, but do not participate in this practice, altho "bumps in the road" do occur. ;o)

The head of finance at Jim Glover is a real stand up guy. He listened to the full story and then proceeded to take care of the problem with real class. This gentle man has been with the Glover brand since JG Dodge. Wish I had asked for a card so I would know his name......he seems to be a stand up guy. {However, I am sure this terrible practice is still going on in his department with out a thought of badly his hurts the PERSON that purchases the auto. Cause REAL people are being HURT.}

I guess the person purchasing this car got some really good life lessons out of this whole mess. Would "I" recommend anyone buy a car at Jim Glover.....no. Too many banking people were very much aware of this on going problem at the dealership so Jim Glover had taken no action to clean up their act.

I still have a HUGE problem with the FACT not one person at Jim Glover Chev knew about the incentives, to the point the finance guy acted like the purchaser was crazy for suggesting such a thing. UNbelievable in MHO.

Unfortunately no other Chevy place around this area could match the price of the car so the buyer, being one smart cookie, purchased the car anyway.

***SIGH****

Lord PLEASE do not let my car break down or conk out any time soon. Red, White and Blue, Christian advertisements for cars are FAKE.........in my humble opinion.

Say you purchased a new car on a Tuesday from Jim Glover Chevrolet in Tulsa, Oklahoma. You use the Chevrolet incentive rate of 2.9% to finance the your new automobile. You say NO to the GAP insurance and the additional three year warranty service they try to sell you.

So you have actually stopped them from getting the kick back from the bank they were going to use (5.9% interest), the extra cash they get from selling the GAP insurance and they make nothing from the company that sells the warranty coverage. Finance guy was PISSED to say the least about this, especially since NO ONE knew about the incentive rate......like the manager of the car lot had to look it up on his computer cause NO ONE at Jim Glover Chevrolet knew about the Chevrolet's incentives.

THEN on Saturday your salesman at Jim Glover Chevrolet calls you and says you have to come in and re sign your finance papers as the Chevrolet financing fell through.

Have you ever hear of such a thing???? Is this a scam??? I have been up set about this all day. Why would they let the car leave the lot if the credit had not been approved by Chevrolet? Isn't that what took the finance guy TWO hours to process the paper work??

I am afraid Jim Glover Chevrolet has a scam of some sort going on ........ thoughts???

I found it!! The trailer I would love to own and call mine. It only has one problem (besides the price). The interior is RED......yuck.

She is an Airstream Cruisette, 1951 or 1952. Such a cutie!! Lots of room inside despite its small size. She would be my Flamingo Rose. sigh

Oh well, I am sure I will find one that I love more.

But for now my heart belongs to this cutie.

Last Day

Today is my daughters last day working at WalMart. WM no longer hires full time 40 hour employees, not that she was getting 40 hours a week but she was considered a full timer. She is already bemoaning the lose of her discount card!

She has a better job with the state. I just hope she likes it as there is no going back to the photo lab at WM.

We are going to have some really bad storms today. Yesterday 'round three when the sky suddenly went TOTALLY black I nearly swallowed my gum! I am not overly fond of severe thunder storms. Since I was at work I was even more unhappy. (I rather be at my own home surrounded by my fur babies)

As you can tell from this post nothing exciting going on. That is not a complaint.

Tulsa Bead Market

I attended the Bead Market at the Fair Grounds today. Fewer vendors there this year than last. With so many crafty ladies in Oklahoma I do not understand why these Markets are not better attended.

A couple of my friends go to the markets down in Texas and over in Arkansas but will not attend the ones in NE Oklahoma.?!? Don't get it.

Also, Jelcey is an awesome teacher and had not one student in either of her classes today. So sad.

On a better note I did my duty and purchased some really awesome beads, baubles and assorted goodies.

About a week ago just down the road a piece the temperature was a record setting NEGATIVE 31 degrees.

Yesterday we almost hit 80 degrees. Here at my house.

Yesterday I got sun burned. First and hopefully last burn of the year.

Today I hurt and am bright red.

Can NOT believe I got burned in February.

Oh and did I mention the wind was blowing a few thousand miles an hour?

another 20 inches of snow in OKLAHOMA filled in all the holes that had started to show as the old snow was melting.

today I feel sad because of this snow. but saturday it will be 56 degrees!!!!! 60 on Sunday. By Monday I will be able to drive myself to work in my own car.

I had a dentist appointment Thursday morning that had to be cancelled due to a paper work problem. As we all know regardless of the pain level one is in the paper work must be correct and complete.

I was off on Friday (yesterday) so I decided to get all my paperwork in order so I could make another appointment. Reception is at the office on Fridays but no dentist. THE WEB SITE CONFIRMS CLOSED ON FRIDAYS. I went to the dentist office and handed in all the needed items to the sweet lady at the front desk.

This sweet lady says "you want to go ahead and get your x-ray since you are already here?" So I say sure. I am lead back to x-ray. Very painless procedure. However, the assistant spots the problem right off. She says "why don't you come sit back here so we can have a closer look." OK, I can come sit.

Keep in mind the web site says CLOSED ON FRIDAYS. In walks the dentist.....gulp! I should state here I am the BIGGEST chicken on the face of the earth.

He notices the bone loss and infection. Hmmmmm he says. Let's just numb this up a little. WHAT???? Just to look at it??

Well four hours latter I am walking out of the pharmacy with antibiotics missing two teeth and the proud owner of six stitches in my jaw. Seems the emergency guy on duty that day is an oral surgeon and he was bored I guess so he just jumped right in and "fixed" my little problem.

No antique shows for me this weekend as planned. I am home resting. Eating soft foods for the next week and a half.

Best part is my problem is fixed and I don't have to worry about it any more. The worst is over.

Next time I will mail in my paperwork!

Birds

On our way to Grove yesterday we passed through Bernice. On the left side of the lake there were THOUSANDS. . . . ok maybe hundreds . . . . of pelicans floating on the water. HUGE big white bumps everywhere the eye could see. But only on the left side of the bridge. Odd? Cow birds were on the right had side of the bridge but only a few.

We have had such warm weather the last week I guess the birds decided to stay for a short vacation. These birds are so HUGE I must admit to being a bit in awe of them. Of course I did not have my camera so the pic above is of an Austrian pelican not American white.

We are cold now here in Oklahoma awaiting the really deep freeze heading our way to arrive.

Oprah & Marie

Marie made me cry for the hour she was on Oprah. Marie sings so beautifully and has such a close and loving family. She sang a lovely song in her son's memory. I think I have been a fan of Donny and Marie since they started singing on TV. Of course I still am a fan.

Tomorrow is my last day at my temporary job. Good news is Richard's melanoma is under control. The drug study he entered worked! Sadly the cancer is now in his liver but he now has a fighting chance to live longer as the melanoma that was quickly killing him when I first met him in July has almost been stopped. Bad news for me is not as dire as life/death, however, now I have to look for a new job since I REALLY need the pay check to pay the mortgage, ect. Even tho my home is small and old it has sheltered my daughter and I comfortably and I want to continue living here in the comfort I have become accustom to. I truly happy to relinquish my job back to the original owner.

I have an interview Monday. Fingers crossed.

We are loving this cool weather. Tuesday we went to the Tulsa State Fair. The weather was awesome. I think I am getting too old to enjoy the fair much. However, I did enjoy the food.

I need a whole week out in the garden pulling weeds, cutting down sapling & cleaning out fence rows. Another month or so we will have to cover up the air conditioner and bird baths.

Lost in America

Jenks, America that is. On my way home from an exciting few days with the Department of Labor financial guys I decided to pop over to Jenks to look for a scrapbook store I used to shop in. Boy was I surprised to find it gone.

Did you know there is not one large or small scrapbook store in Tulsa, Oklahoma now? I have enough supplies to last for a few more years, however, I may need more. I want the new Graphics 45 and I am sure lots of stuff I have not even seen yet. Now I have no where to look at/ shop for supplies.

I was told there is a shop in Owasso but I have not been to Owasso for years.

On my way out of OKC I swung by a scrapbook store my GPS listed only to find it was no longer in business. I happened to see a cigar store next door to the empty store. I went in and talked to the nice owner who sold me six empty cigar boxes. Now I need to just figure out what I want to do with them.

I have to go back to the office tomorrow. I still need to unpack and pick out my work clothes.

I now know what it feels like to be a porch light with bugs banging into the light.

With 110 degree heat wave we have been having I try not to goof off out side longer than necessary. Of course all my poor plants have to stay out.......no air conditioning for them. I LOVE to water by hand as it is the most peaceful time of my day (except when giant humming birds attack!!).

Due to the above mentioned heat I decided to water after the sun set. Here in Oklahoma we have horrid ice storms, tornadoes, and wind storms that cause us to lose electricity often. I purchased a miners head light with night vision last winter just to be on the safe side as we had been with out electric for a week the year before (at least I could now read while I froze to death).

So last evening I ventured out after dark to water my garden with the three brightest lights turned on on my forehead. Man the bugs hit me so fast and hard I was nearly blinded due to the fact they kept getting stuck behind my glasses by my eye balls! Who would have thunk it?

I then took off my glasses and change my head light to night vision. WOW talk about cool! I misted each garden then watered. The mist on the leaves turned red, sparkly, glow-y and awesome. I stayed out for two hours. Cut the bug down by 85% plus the monster humming birds did not attack! Bonus. (I know, poor birds were just thirsty but seriously I thought they were HUGE bees........bees that I am deathly allergic to)

We just returned from Joplin, MO. My daughter took me to Harbor Freight Tools while there. Have you ever shopped in on? Oh I had sooooooooo much fun. The bead store charges triple what I could have purchased my tools for at HFT! I did however find some cool storage containers that I must get to so my "stuff" is organized for tomorrow.

New wash machine

Our Maytag washer stopped working last week. The repair man came this morning. The parts to fix my DEPENDABLE Maytag will be over $300.00.......parts, only the parts.....ugh!

So what did we do? We bought another Maytag.......washer only. Our dryer still works just fine. (Keeping my fingers crossed on the dryer lasting longer)

I hate going to the laundry mat. I need to wash our sheets and towels but do NOT want to put them in the nasty washers in the local mat. I figure we can sleep on week old sheets until Tuesday when the new washer is scheduled to arrive.

Of course with the temperature hitting 102 (don't even know what they think the heat index is & I ain't gonna ask cause we know it is HOT) we will have double the stinky, dirty clothes to wash.

On the bright side I would rather have a sick/dead washer then to have anything wrong with my air conditioner............how did those poor souls live back in the day without fans and central air????

No not the loud bang and pop of fire works. That soft sigh sound. It's my thirteen trees in the back yard enjoying the rain. Sweet relief from the baking sun and cracked earth. The poor trees had already started defoliating. Hmmmmmmm looks like someone left her tools out to get "washed" :o)

This is where Maggie spends all her outside time while kids are setting off fireworks. She is SCARED of things that make loud sounds. Not a happy doggie! Such a sweet face tho.

Luzs dog BaiLea had to check out the yard then returned to the patio to shake off the rain. Yep she got everyone of us wet. Happily wagging her tail after she gave us our "shower".

I was hoping we would get a good soaking rain so we would not have to worry about fires from the neighbors celebrations. However, the rain needs to end so it won't spoil the kids celebrations. I and my fur babies plan to stay in the house most of the day tomorrow and tomorrow night. Our house is NOT a fan of fireworks.

while looking at blogs today I stumbled onto a picture of a guy standing in snow. IN JUNE. Up north right here in America, USA. I still shiver at the snow we played in while in Alaska one long ago August day. Just ain't right to have snow in summer.

I am not enjoying Oklahoma heat however, I am NOT ready for snow. Not by a long shot. Although it looks like Miss Maggie is having a blast running so fast I could barley catch a picture of her last February.

We have a cold front moving through. It will only be in the low nineties for the next week or so. Of course this means I will get to play in the garden again. Yea! look out weeds, your days are numbered.

Cat in the box

I turned on fans to day to keep a breeze going thru the house since it feels like 107 here. My poor baby mowed the lawn this morning around eight a.m. to beat the heat ........ it was 80 already!

Carter decided to nap in the box our cooker arrived in. Heat does not bother this air conditioned cat. Of course as soon as the sun goes down I will remove his "bed" to the outside trash bin. I felt so sorry for our guy in brown and our mailman today. Bless them for all the hard work they do daily in this nasty Oklahoma heat.

I woke up VERY cranky this morning. Right off the bat just in the worst mood.

I finally remembered bits and pieces of my dream.

Basically it was a dream that hurt my feelings.

Real wickedly hurt feelings.

Has that ever happened to you? Seriously? Can a dream hurt your feelings?

Make you feel so bad it just ruins your whole day?

Gonna be nasty

Took the dogs out at 4:00 am this morning. Not by choice. BaiLea woke me up and demanded to go OUT. NOW.

Lots of lightening and oh my goodness the air is so thick and heavy! Not gonna be a good day in Oklahoma weather wise.

Yesterday we had a shopping adventure. We actually made a list and went from one place to another to purchase the necessary items. Oh it got so darn hot. Several of the stores air conditioners were NOT up to par. Least we did not terry in those places.

Rude as it may sound I hate clothes shopping with Luz. She is such a pain. Half the time she refused to try on the shorts so now we have to return a bag full of stuff to several places. Kids! Actually adult kid so I can't boss her like I need to :o)

Gem Faire

The Gem Faire is going on at the Tulsa fairgrounds this week end. There is a charge of $5.00 at the door or you and a friend can print off the coupon on their web site and get in two for one.

I found lots of interesting things. Course my main focus is on wire and those supplies were sadly lacking (duh...gem fair) and expected but I was hopeing. However, some of the gems were awesome.

I hated the way most of the big vendors priced things. Like 98.00 for a string of beads that is now on clearance for 70% off. Cabs were outrageously priced only to be marked down 70%. Each booth of course had creative ways to price stuff. I had to ask at most places how much each item I wanted was which is VERY irritating to me.

I found a new man made stone that I love. One booth called it Blue Gold Stone. I have always loved Gold Stone. Now I find it comes in midnight blue and a beautiful green. Not many examples but enough for me to love it.

One booth had the most beautiful rock cabs all shinned up and ready to wrap. The only problem I had was the stones were cut so thin they would easily break. Once again everything was marked up and then on "sale" at half off. ooooooo big bargain. I walked away lusting over the zebra stone. I really, really want some of that. As soon as I can find a nice hunk that won't break the first time it clinks a table I shall snatch it up and wrap it in gold. Something to look forward to.

It was a fun day looking at a few stones I had never seen before. I bought many cool things. My bag of loot contained beads and such but the interesting buys was shark teeth and old coins from Peru.

El Virus is still here

Saw the doctor today. He said I have allergies (since I was 6) and I have a virus.....now in its second week. I am tired of being sick.

We went from nice slightly cloudy/rainy weather to the inferno. Felt like a 100 here today. Doc wanted to know why I was having so much trouble breathing. Cause it's HOT out there. Not to mention grass, trees, mold, and lots of other nasties that make me ill.

My baby boy cat is not feeling well either. He also has allergies (allergic to my mean daughter). ....well she is not to mean. She brought home the second season of True Blood for me to watch. Didn't really feel up to it but I thought she was sweet to think of me.

There is a bead show at the fair grounds this week end. I need to get to feeling better so I can go. I have "MANY" pages marked in several books of projects I want to do and need to purchase the junk (wire, beads, crystals, ect) to get started.

A lovely lady in Broken Arrow bought the bead store I have been going to so I will have an in town store to purchase some of my supplies, plus Hobby Lobby and Michael's of course.

Charlaine Harris is such an awesome person. Lu was thrilled to meet her. We had such a wonderful in Dallas. The Best part of course was meeting Ms. Harris.

She said we would get at least two more Sookie books. Next one to be released NEXT May. I think she should stay home and write more so we can have a book every 6 months :o)

I slept 14 hours after we got home and could go back to bed now and sleep until tomorrow. Who would have thunk driving so far in such a short time was so exhausting?

I have a job interview this week. Keepin fingers crossed that by this time next week I will be employed again.

Now I can bargain shop between the nook and the Kindle. So far the Kindles books have been cheaper.

Dead in the Family. I just finished it. Now I am wondering when the next installment of Sookie Stackhouse's story will be published. From what I see on the net people are all a buzz waiting to get their hands on this book. I for one am glade I found it before any one could spoil it for me. Now I can discuss the book without fear!

We, luz and I, will be attending a book signing with Charlaine Harris. I so look forward to hearing her read. Be sure to let me know what ya all think about how "things" turned out in book 10 of the series.

Since I stayed up half the night reading I am dragging today. Storms are still around us. I sure hope the tornado chasers get the information they need with out anyone being injured in the bad weather.

At least the 40+ mpr "gusts" that has been sweeping down our plains has stopped for the day.

I plan to get pics of how my garden has grown as soon as we get some sun.

Kindle vs Nook

I have wondered lately which one is better, Kindle (we own 2) or the Nook.

I finished reading the fifth book in the series by Madelyn Alt and needed to download the newly released book from April 9th. To my shock there was not a Kindle release, only hardback. That means shipping and waiting for arrival of the book or driving to the City to pick the book up. What to do?

After whining A LOT I checked the Barnes and Noble site for the book to make sure they even had it in stock before going to the City. Once on the site I noticed THEY had the e book of "A Witch in Time"! It was more expensive than the hard cover book at Amazon!

I downloaded the book with many a grumble so I could finish up the series. While in the City yesterday for a beading class at Beadles in BA I stopped in at B&N to look for a new series to grab my attention. Upon entry to the store there sat the NOOK in all its glory. Oh my they have the cutest covers for the Nook (pink envelope cover just for me!). Course the Nook is 259 and the cover was 35. Have I mentioned we own 2 kindles? (Only one has an awesome cover, purple with an ugly long strap thingy to keep it closed. NOT mine btw)

Since I have to read books on my 17 inch lap top (that is a HUGE territory compared to the Kindle that I am used to) I almost bought us a Nook. Just so I would not have to read books from my computer since it so very much more comfortable to use my hand held. In the end I did walk away from the Nook as I figured I could suffer a bit and would rather spend the money on new books and beads.

So what are your thoughts? Which e reader do you use? Or do you just read an actual book? Do you think owning two different e readers (three counting the computer) is worth it?

Not something to crow about since they are saying Green Country is 19th in the Nation for high allergens. It is, of course, all that wind whipping down our planes. :o)

The high grass count has kept me in the house all day. I did go out and get the mail and water the dog but then came right back in.

I was so happy that I had been feeling so well so far this year. I will start on the meds tonight and feel like I am walking thru a think fog for the next week until I get used to the side effects of the pills.

I hope to work in my garden tomorrow as they are expecting rain on Friday.

Course I have to get my taxes filed first.

Such a wonder day

This bunch of Variegated Solomon's Seal started out as four little plants two years ago. Now look at their beauty! I have split off a hand full each year to spread around in the shade garden. Under their graceful necks are tiny white bell flowers. Tiny little border hostas by the fence.

This is a low spot in the garden. I need to slowly build up the dirt here so the winter freeze and thaws do not kill my grass and hostas. Several of the hostas bit the dust this past winter so I need to re plant in this area......slowly this time.

I have another bumper crop of wild violets this year. There are even some pure white ones this year! I get tickled when I read other blogs where the gardeners are so thrilled these weeds are growing in their space. I rip out hundreds of violets each year. I will be tearing out everything in this garden, working in lots of dirt conditioner. I plan on making this a total hosta garden as it is almost always in shade I will put in my new blue and yellow hostas.

This little corner of ground cover is spreading well along with trans planted Solomon's Seal from last year.

I am going to add some Homestead Purple verbena to this spot this year.

I plan on putting these blooming beauties thru out to pull the spaces together. LOVE the color.

This is a new grass for the garden this year. Also the good ol'standby lantana for the sunny front. At the bottom you see a sweet potato vine. These grow to be gi-normas in my garden...almost over takes the area and kills out the perennials. I am moving it over to a some what bare spot this year so it can just grow to its hearts content.

We are having such a beautiful day here in Green Country. This is looking out to the right from my patio.

We do NOT look over to the left as we can see the nasty man that lives back there. He enjoys making gross noise while scratching himself and staring at the people in my yard. He noticed me on the patio and started up his nasty behavior so I am now inside on this beautiful day. I hope to afford privacy fencing for that side of my yard SOON!

From this distance the green fence around my shade garden just fades away. BaiLeigh is checking out the sent of some critter that has been visiting us a night. Big dogs paws are the size of dessert plates so she kills most every plant she steps on therefore I must fence. As you can see from the shadows cast on the pole barn my trees have not even started to bud yet. The big bird bath was once my grandpa's then moms and now mine. That whole corner is being worked on this year.

And since I am not a crown wearing kinda girl I won't take the 2 day... right?

It really depends if I have to drive to Texas anyway......

This picture was taken last July of my garden. This year I plan to do the inside circle of the trees....I only have 12 trees the back now. I have spent an interesting night researching the hostas I purchased at Sam's yesterday. I have three: zounds, yellow river, wide brim, northern exposure, bressingham blue, and mama mia. I purchased ten Albo-marginata hostas, 4 lady ferns, 3 elephant ears (need more), 3 pink bleeding hearts, and 50 white caladiums. I think this will keep me busy most of tomorrow. It is supposed to rain Friday so I may just get two of the small side garden plants in and save the big round circle for next week. I need to amend the soil before anything is tucked into its new home. I am still kind of leery about having another freeze and I surely do not want to have to cover up a hundred plants! Altho I saw several little heads pinking up from the ground today so ready or not the plants are ready!

I plan on hitting several garage sales and auctions to purchase old plates and such to do some mosaic art on the stepping stones this year. I found a blog were a lady had mosaic garden.....even on a manikin! Sadly I can't locate her blog again. She had such lovely stuff she had in her garden! sniff, sniff. If only I would have saved it instead thinking I would remember it.

Got Hostas?

We went to Sam's yesterday in Joplin, MO. They have the most outstanding deal on spring greens and flowers.

I got three different kinds of hosta roots. One box had 10 and two had 9. That is 28 NEW hostas for my shade garden. They only cost 13.99 a box. We also purchased a box of 50 pretty bulbs and 5 Clematis. I am so excited. Must get out in the garden and plant...........soon.

Our freeze date is April 15th so I am a bit leary of planting anything out early. However I am planning out what is going to happen this spring.

After spending the last two days in Joplin I am just tired today. I have to go in to the office for a bit tonight and then get home in time to watch Cougar Town :o)

Snow is still on the ground with a bit of a chill in the air.

I have spent this afternoon cruising blogs. I check each day to see if Nie Nie has posted so we can be aware of her wonderful recovery (my dd asks a least once a day how Nie Nie is doing, she is just part of our daily routine). I noticed "Raised In Cotton" had posted so for the last several hours I have been checking out all her links. Mostly I have been traveling via the blog in Texas. Reading about their antique shows and looking a the most beautiful spring pictures. Yes, the green eyed monster is on the prowl.

Since dd is STILL sleeping I try not to make noise. So checking out all that is ready to go on in Texas has kept me silent most of this afternoon. I keep telling myself I do NOT want to drive five hours to an antique show next week end. Especially after driving three house in a blizzard this week end just to get home from the fair grounds! However, I figure if the good folks in Kansas are so very excited to make the trip I should drive down to check out all the excitement. Right? I figure the garden will still be too wet to work after our SEVEN inches of snow melts that I might as well go check out our neighbors lovely offerings.

I have laundry to do to get prepared for this weeks work.........but I think I check out a few more Texas spring blogs........I want to be a good neighbor ya know.

Spring Blizzard

Today was the first day of Spring and guess what? We had a BLIZZARD.

The snow was supposed to come in later this afternoon. It arrived in Tulsa at 9:00 a.m.

I was the only one that showed up for class with Jelcy. I told her I could not stay as the weather was quickly getting really ugly. So she gave me a quick run thru of the project. Such a sweet lady. I took her pic but don't know how to get it from my phone to the blog. I will have to ask my dd to help me out.

Driving home was absolutely terrifying! People in Oklahoma do NOT know how to drive in white out conditions. I am telling you they were just flat out CRAZY while driving down the turnpike. I passed so many car accidents, jack knifed truck, one SUV was down a embankment on its top. A little seven year old girl was killed earlier this morning. So very sad. Many more were injured in some of the accidents.

I for one as staying in my warm home tomorrow. I hope to only run out to take supper to mom then come right back in.

However the best part is I have two classes booked with Jelcy at the show so drive with maniacs I will to get to the fair grounds.

I am going to enjoy Friday in my garden. Hopefully I won't be too sore to enjoy the classes :o)

The "weak" March sun is NOT that weak in Oklahoma! Sun screen and bug repellent every day before heading out into the jungle. Lesson learned for another year.

I was working on cutting down the forest in the back of our house yesterday afternoon. I could not believe how out of hand and ugly it had become with scrawny squirrel & bird planted trees. Course some of those wild trees were taller than me. Not good for in town back yards to have trees that grow fifty feet high into power lines and right next to garages. It was warm as I worked and of course the beautiful sun was just a shinning. I really enjoyed the work out. It is so much easier to cut down the branches and trunks to trash size with out leaves to hinder my aim the by pass cutter.

When I got to the last tree I feeling very HOT (so nice to be hot once again instead of freezing) so I ventured into the house for a drink and to wash all of nature off my arms and face. My arms were hurting and tingling so I figured I was allergic to one of the trees.

Well, actually allergies was one of the problems but I had also gotten quite burned in the weak March afternoon sun. I try to NEVER get sun burned as we all know that is such a bad idea, especially on my old face.

Today I am uncomfortable. I will continue to apply moisturizer to keep it cool. Thankfully we have rain today so the sun won't be a problem on the burn as I venture out for a few more chores.

I am so ready to set my clocks up one hour for an extra hour of sun each day. Spring cleaning has started in the garden and I have almost finished up the garden journal I am making for Spring/Summer 2010. My arm muscles are so sore and the sun burn is uncomfortable but I got a big ol' smile in my heart today after the great work out yesterday.

e reader

I needed a book to read last night so I went to Amazon to purchase the next book in the Maggie Sefton knitter series for my Kindle. But amazon said book #4 was not available.

So I popped over to Barnes and Noble. Low and behold there was book #4. I downloaded B&N's free e reader, bought book 4 and kept reading. I also noticed while I was at B&N some of their e books are cheaper than Amazon.

Good news is now we have a choice on which store we purchase our e books from. I *think* I enjoy reading on the Kindle better, however, I do not plan to give up on the e reader. I will go with the store that has the cheapest book.

Since Amazon has book 5 cheaper than B&N I will purchase it from them. We will see where book 6, 7, and 8 come from.

More Beauty

How pretty is this quilt? I have it in line to make. I keep pulling out this pattern and moving it up in the stack of quilt tops to do this year. I just love the colors. All of her patterns just makes me smile as they are so very ***happy*** inducing.

My most favorite part of all, of course, is the cats hidden in the borders. LOVE, love, love those cats. I have already pulled most of the fabric. Really must find some small check fabric. MUST make this sooner!

Gloomy day here in the heartland. I have been straightening up the library. We purchased one paper back from many different authors from a book store going out of business in Joplin. I am stuck in para normal, cozy mystery loop lately. I need to find new series to read. So I thought this was the best way to "test" out some new (to me) series of books, at 65% off list no less. All that being said I have books stacked here and there and it looks rather junky (normal for me as I love my piles) so I need to carry in a new to me little wooden book shelf to add to my small reading space. The book shelf is in desperate need of a paint job so I was storing it until spring when I would be able to paint it. Oh well, at least it will look neater as my library is right off the entry.

Finished up a Harlan Coben book last evening. He is one of those guys that keeps me glued to my seat until I finish the whole book. I love his Myron Bolitar series. The guy is such a smart mouth. Drop Shot did not disappoint.

Vancouver please send us your 52 degree sun shinning weather as I need me some sunshine soon!

Can you believe that people in construction supplies in Tulsa, Oklahoma does not know what a dutch door is? What is wrong with you people? You are employed at a Home Depot in the door department and have NO idea what a dutch door is. "oh well maybe someone can special order you one"!!!! Are you serious?!? YOU are the "someone" in charge of this department don't you think YOU should be the person to look it up?

Same thing happened at Lowe's. Have these people been raised in Castles? Tents? Mud huts? My ancestors came from tee pees and I know what a dutch door is.......and I love 'm and still what one in the kitchen leading to the wash room.

But guess what? I have to order it from the inter net and have it delivered here. Can't buy one in a local store.

Dutch door dot com had free shipping until Valentines day..... I just missed it.

Go figure.

Mom is back in the hospital. She is black and blue from head to toe. Some of the places they tried to get her blood from are all knotted up and HUGE. Her platelets are so low she will have to stay for a few days before she can go back to her room.

I was able to get a spot in Saturday's soldering class. Yay! the weather is going to cooperate so dd will get a Valentin's present. Not sure what it is we are making but it will be lu's.

So proud of myself for getting my taxes completed before the middle of the month. This is a record breaker.

Have a couple of projects pulled together to work on while I sit with mom.

Today is a design day. You know.........one of those days that it seems like every thing you do give you an idea for a design of some COOL thing? Well it seems that today is one of those days.

I love plants........in side or out side I just love to have life all around me. Especially inside. Makes the house brighter and air cleaner. But I have CATS. They are into everything and put everything in their mouth. I do not like looking at eaten on plants.

That being said a cool idea popped into my head while watching the American Olympic ski team on the telly. So I must get myself to a Lowe's real soon. I am excited to have plants IN the den with us again. Pictures to follow if it works..............which of course it will :o)

My baby nephew is coming to town. I say that with a big smile as Matthew is like 6 foot 2, very broad shoulders (he works out), blond hair, blue eye handsome kid of twenty something. I used to use him as my baby doll. He let me fix his hair and dress him up. lol I have some pictures that he wishes I would lose of him in diaper and dress. Course he was just a baby and one would only know it was Matt from the beautiful blond curls as none of the girls in the family has/had the beautiful ringlets.

I am ready to paint and re do the den. Just waiting for warm weather and of course a paying job so I can afford to buy the needed items. It has been about ten years since I have painted so it is desperately needed. I am going with French shabby chic as I love the Eiffel Tower and pink. Excited to see my plans come to fruition.

Trying to get week end stuff done with a sick kitty whining at my ankles is difficult. Carter has a snotty nose and wants to be held. He follows me around and crying for attention. I thought I was well past carrying a "toddler" on my hip (shoulder) when my daughter entered middle school. Not so when the kitty is not feeling well. Hope he is better soon running around the house tearing up jack.

Now I must clean some and ready to visitors. (Carter is taking a nap!! Oh happy hour.)

So glad to see January 2010 is now history. I absolutely HATE winter. I hate the dullness of everything after the sparkle of December. I dislike the COLD, always.

I want/must have more sun shine!! I saw a count down to spring on a web site. Wish I had copied it to my blog so I could keep track of springs arrival.

We still have snow on the ground. It is slowly melting. My puppies come in wet every time they come back in for their romps in the snow. I don't think I will have a clean floor until summer.

Sad looking frozen garden. You can see the blowing snow. Nice big fat wet flakes.

We have received between 5 and 6 inches of snow. My little dog has to run as fast as she can to bust thru the snow. Oh how they love to go out and run all the way to the back and then race into the house.

My daughter made it work today. She is on her way home now. The longest fifteen minutes of the day. Course I want to call to make sure she is o.k. except I instructed her NOT to answer the phone and to concentrate on her driving. Also the driving of others is just as important.

I found a new Blog

"Crafting with Cat Hair". I just love the name of this blog. I should have thought of first. I had to quit crocheting because of my cats. At least one of the darling furies are sitting with me at all times. When I paint I usually end up with "real" cat paw prints, and hair. And so it goes.

I have put their button on the side bar as she is spear heading stash busting in 2010. I most certainly need to do this. After cleaning out my moms house I can see how much "stuff" we hold on to that is not worth holding on to for years. We put stuff up for special use later only to throw it away years later as it was forgotten or plain rotted. I have lots of old stuff I plan on using in my journal this year. That should rid a drawer or so full of stuff. Also:

Now maybe I will actually finish the quilts I have started.

(when the quilt along blog is finished I just stop working on them)

Only purchase the FEW items I need to finish a project.

I just started doing wire wrap jewelry....oops.

(no stash....how sad)

NO more pattern purchases. (seriously?)

(I can use the hundred or so I already have...or gift them to some one that will use them)

It seems I spend most of my time cleaning the studio instead of working in it. I hope this will help me use up stuff while it is still good and current.

How to have a Happy Heart

With all the sad news that abounds in today's news I just read Nie Nie's blog. It stated that she is Home! How wonderful. The love of that family just makes me smile. I believe it has to be endless. I wish we could all experience that kind of love (without their pain of course) every day.

The poor economy is having a terrible effect on the police and fire people in Tulsa. I have to wonder how safe Tulsa will be with 20% LESS police officers? Crime in my home town is just out of hand. Our officers are in more danger daily. They are out numbered and out gunned by the bad guys. With fewer officers for back up and to protect the Innocent............... it is just scary stuff. All in all Tulsa will suffer more as people will cancel plans to go there to shop and for conventions.

On a better note I heard from the bead store in Broken Arrow that they have a place for me in their Saturday class. I am very excited about this. I have never been in the store and their web site is kinda basic. (www.beadlesbeadshop.com) I plan to make an awesome neckless for Lu......I hope. For some reason I just love all things metal so wire should be fun! Also, I received an e mail from the store with a 20% off coupon. That will come in handy Saturday I am sure.

I got a new book for my Kindle. I sure love that little device.

Such Beauty and a smile

BaiLea just makes me laugh when she tries to "talk" to the camera. Gotta love that face.

I am sitting here watching CMT. Toby Keith's "Wayman's Song" just played. Even tho it is sad the world lost Wayman that song makes me smile. The beautiful smiles in the pictures of Wayman and his family just lift me up. And Toby Keith's voice. WOW. I think that song brings out the best of his vocal skills. All in all just a beautiful song about a beautiful guy sang beautifully by his friend.

In the mail today I received my Quilters Newsletter. So much beauty within the pages of this magazine. Harbor Lignthouse, Drink of Water, and Red Truck are so beautiful. Hope Springs in Cremona by Harumi Asada just took my breath away. That is just a few quilts on the first 19 pages. And the cuteness of "Finders Keepers" on page 50 just made me smile. The Blue Melon Patch put me in mind of the quilt along we are doing at Don't Look Now. My only complaint is the draping of "Pistachio Ice Cream" as I would love to see the whole quilt. All in all pages and pages of beautiful works of art.

I have to clean the studio today. Muddy paws ( see picture of 100 pound mutt above) thanks to our melted snow and "people" throwing junk in there to get it out of their way (Lu!) has made it unattractive and not very conducive to creativity.

Oh what a Beautiful Morning!

Such a beautiful day. My mom is out of the hospital. She is almost back to her old self. I get worried when she is sweet and loving. She is a natural crank.

My ear infection is gone! I can now stay awake for more than an hour at a time.

It is still cold but is expected to get ALL the way up into the 50's this week. Happy dance! I do hate cold weather.

Too early to have much going on. I have the laundry started. I am boiling a pot of water on the stove to raise the humidity in the house as the humidity had fallen down to 35 over night. I feel much more comfortable at 60%. Of course that way I am not getting all those pesky shocks every time I shuffle across the floor.

Lu left a full cup of Pepsi in the den that got turned over during the night by one of the runner kitties. Sticky mess to clean up this morning.

I am happy, healthy, not very wealthy,and sometimes wise. Looking forward to a wonderful week.

Zero

Oh the weather out side is frightful! But all my fur babies are nice and warm in the house with me. And guess what? We are under a WIND CHILL ADVISORY! Have you ever hear of such?

Yep. Our temp out side is ZERO! feels like 15 below. I do NOT live in
Alaska folks. I am in Oklahoma, USA. Course the news said it is even freezing in Florida.

Speaking of... I have been trying to locate a small "unknown" or "undiscovered" little town over in Florida close to the water that is reasonably priced (compare to Oklahoma) so I can move there. This cold and snow keeps me in the house. Not that I mind staying home but seriously folks I need a job. Oh to win the lottery! Course that would mean I would actually have to buy a ticket. :o) and since I am unemployed I do not waste money on a pipe dream. I only waste my free time on pipe dreams and since I am unemployed I have lots of free time.

Mom is still in the hospital. Sound like a broken record here. She did look a little better yesterday when Lu visited her. I am home with a massive ear infection so I did not get to visit. Since I am unemployed and uninsured I am just gonna have to tough it out. Fortunately I had some left over guaifenesin in the cabinet so I am popping two of those babies and drinking gallons of water, which it is always good to drink lots of water, right? Anyway it keeps the pressure on my ear within reason.

Keep warm it cold out there.

Buuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrr!

Poor Mommy is still in the hospital. She is usually always wrapped in her snowman blanket shivering. This picture was taken in November before she got pneumonia. I am hoping she will be able to go back to the nursing home this week. She HATES the hospital. She says their food is awful and she freezes all the time. She now has two extra flannel blankets to help keep her toasty.

The snow on the deck did not have time to melt before the next wave of snow came in. It felt like 14 degrees out there per channel 6 weather team. I sure do believe them.

I think Lu's dog is the only one that loves to go out for a romp in the white stuff. I set the timer on the oven so I remember to make her come back in to the house after twenty minutes of play time. She was covered head to toe when I went to get her. Good thing dd keeps towels by the back door to dry BaiLea off. Her feet are the size of bread plates. They have a ton of snow packed into them. My floors are wet half the time from the snow melting from between her toes. Oh well, nothing a mop can't handle.

Meanwhile I have been reading, as usual. I finished my first books of 2010. Lorna Barret's "Booktown Mystery" series is a good cozy mystery. I have read all three of them thanks to the snow and have started on Victoria Laurie's "A Psychic Eye Mystery" series. I am really enjoying this one also. For a sister less person I really love reading sister mysteries.

I finished the first of Laurie's books this afternoon and thanks to my Kindel I have the second one on its way for me to read after I clean up after supper. That Kindel was a wonderful invention!

Off to clean the kitchen then to start reading Better Red than Dead. BTW: I am almost half thru the 12 in 2010 challenge. Sweet! (sometimes I read too much?)

Snow!

We got snow again. LOTS more snow.

We decided to return unwanted, un needed or just not picked up Christmas gifts today. The TV kept saying there were no lines and LuLu is off today. So off to the stores we go.

The roads were not bad. We had a Mullins Plumbing truck about take us out at one light. Their van stopped on ice and the driver had to gun it good to get the van going again. Good thing he was a good driver.

We had a return to Sam's. Had to buy another box of croissants. YUM! Also found books for 4.47 each. I purchased Patricia Cornwells "Book of the Dead". I was surprised I missed one of her books. The others were best sellers that I had already read.

My old boss at the bank sent me a Christmas card with a Borders Books gift card in it. I usually shop at Barns & Nobles so the gift card gave me an excuse to check out Borders. The store was nice but I am just more comfortable at B&N.

I bought come new Stampington magazines and A dark chocolate candy bar. Needless to say I won't mind be snowed in tomorrow. :o) The roads were getting pretty bad by the time we got home. The temp dropped from 35 to 29 in a blink of the turn signal. I was glad LuLu was with me as I had her out in the blowing snow pumping the gas.

On a sadder note Mom is still in the hospital. We met with the Doctor this morning. She said mom has pneumonia. They caught it early so she should improve quickly. Moms eyes were red rimmed today and she was more than slightly cranky. I got tickled at her when she said she was just a little under the weather. Bless her heart she really feels a lot worse than she did yesterday.

Were you dreaming of a white Christmas? I sure was not.

Our Christmas is being cancelled as we are in the mist of a white Christmas blizzard. I saw my mom yesterday. I called my brother. fortunately my dd is here with me so it will just be us two for Christmas as the rain has been ongoing for a while and the temps are dropping.

We hit the grocery stores yesterday. That means the fridge and freezer are FULLY stocked. The winds have been clocked over 60 miles an hour and power outages are becoming more common. Man I just can't afford to lose all the food in the fridge as it is to last us two to three weeks. Course if it happens I will start my New Year diet early :o)

My heart goes out to those that have to travel in the white stuff. Since we have had rain since yesterday there will be a thin sheet of ice under the snow.

Times like this I wish I had a working fireplace.

almost over

The house has sold and closed. The last of the furniture was loaded up on its way to a needy family in Tulsa this morning. Only one porch and the garage left to clean out. We should have that completed Tuesday.

Then all that is left to do is haul off the trash, sweep and mop the floors and hand the key over to the new owners. By Wednesday it will be all over.

We will then start the New Year off with a lot less stress.

Of course I still need to find full time employment. Proceeds from the sale of the house will hold us over for a little while. Hopefully long enough for me to hook up with a good company.

When I start pulling down a full pay check each week we will arrive on easy street :o) From my thoughts to God's ear.

All ready for Christmas. Just need to purchase some chew bones for the two dogs.

Finally

They FINALLY listened to us? Us being the customer and "they" being the BANK. No.

Due to recent bank REGULATION changes they (bank) have finally taken our over draft amount out of our available balance. We have asked for this from our bank for years. Their answer? "We can't do that. The program is written to include the over draft amount. The only way to remove it is to remove your over draft protection."

Funny thing is Arvest NEVER had the over draft amount included in the amount. I thought then and still think this was just another way of a small town bank taking advantage of customers. Ranks right up there with small town banks that post the checks to the accounts, some times causing an over draft along with lots of charges, then they would post deposits. Ooops! They would say. Your checks arrived before the deposit was made...........by two minutes so now you owe us $35.00. AND being the nice people we are we did not send the check back we just charged you a small fee. PHOOEY!

So now the program no longer has the over draft protection amounts in your balance. Took the IT guy at the bank a flip of a switch to remove it. However, I can still guarantee you there is a hefty number on the income statement for overdraft charges. I worked at a bank and am NOT in favor of over drafting an account.

However I do have a question for those that do over draft their accounts. WHY do you write a $50.00 check each day of the week? Why not just write one for $400.00 and get it over with? Only one fee to incur? Why I ask? WHY????

Such a petty pet peeve :o)

I am sleepy and cranky today. I have tons to do and NO energy. Too much stress in my life that has nothing to do with the Season. Well, almost nothing.

I have a dirty house. I need to remove the rest of my mother's belongings from her house as we have sold it and will be closing next week. BIG stressor there. We still have fleas and my dd big dog is allergic to fleas so her butt is almost stripped of hair as she has chewed it all off. It is cold and have froze here so the dang fleas should be DEAD! ( I put new flea stuff on all the animals last evening and vitamin E on big dogs hinney)

I still work two jobs and my mother's health is declining. I know I should just be glad I have a paying job but I really need some energy as by Saturday all I can do is sit on the couch and yawn. Oh, and I EAT all day between yawns.

Other than that life is good. I have a warm soft bed to sleep in and too much food to stuff my face to get fatter with. I need more energy.

Guess I will have to give up and exercise. yuck. I would rather sew on my quilt and hammer on the metal jewelry I am making for Christmas gifts.

We watched Julie and Julia tonight. Such a good movie. We really liked it. I was not ready for it to end. Good lesson tho as Julia Child's lived to be OVER 90 years old and ate her weight in butter. :o)

Off to sleep in my soft warm bed.

An affair of the Heart

I attended "An Affair of the Heart" at the Tulsa fairgrounds today. From the crowd no one would ever guess our economy was in bad shape. A couple of the Ilse were so full of people I could barley breath! It got really uncomfortably hot and stuffy in the Quick Trip building. The crowd thinned out around two.

Oh there were several NEW hand made items. Some people are so very creative. I will take pictures of the two I bought if I remember tomorrow.

Street Cats of Tulsa booth had the new releases of the Laurel Burch purses. Of course they had the kitties patterns. I had to have one large purse plus a cute little zipper bag and the most gouges scarf. I also purchased an item from them for Lulu's Christmas gift. They had Laural Burch fabric made into catnip bags so I purchased one for my kitties. Let me tell ya I was surprised what a hit it was with them. Only my baby Jai did not have anything to with it. It must have had the good kind of cat nip since none the my cats ever go crazy over the cat nip toys I have brought home in the past.

My back started to bother me while I was walking around (after three hours) so I finished up and left. I had to go to Hobby Lobby for a new picture for my new office, however, the pictures were not on sale this week so I purchased some metal "stuff". I would have never guessed in a million years I would be into metal more and more as I age. The deer are everywhere on the roads it seems so I wanted to get home before it was dark.

Since the sun was still shinning when I left Hobby Lobby I went to the Chinese drive thru for Lu and I some take out.

Now I am tired and ready to clean off my bed and hit the hay.

It's HERE!!!!

My Christmas gift from my darling LuLu! I really loved her Kindle so she purchased one for me. She ordered it early just in case they sold out. How lucky am I!

I purchased the pink skin from Amazon also. Gives the plain white a bit of personality. I had Lu put the skin on for me. I must say it look GOOOOD.

I started my new job Monday. So far all is awesome. I had to leave early today as the nurse from my mothers nursing home called my cell with a message I was to contact her. I tried to contact her for half an hour with out success. Finally I just hopped into the car to go see her in person. She said mom was fine however she had fallen again. This time on her fanny. I went in and talked to her before her supper arrived and she seemed fine. I was glad to see the nurse attached a wheel chair alarm as mom was on the floor awhile before they found her.

On a happier note I now have an office of my own with a big double window I will be able to save my beautiful fuchsia. I may even try to over winter my bougainvillea after I transplant it into a prettier "inside" planter.

Off to bed.

Working a job and a half has really cut in to my computer time.

Glad to be back home!

We went shopping tonight. We went to Joann's and of course Hobby Lobby looking for fabric for the quilt along I am doing.

I got a bolt of white Kona with my 40% coupon so I am ready to start on the quilt as soon as my other supplies arrive in the mail.

We hopped over to Red Lobster for supper as Lu was hungry for the all she could eat shrimp special. I of course stuck with chicken strips.

We were headed out of Tulsa towards home when the car made a funny sound and red lights lite up the dash STOP! Something blew all the coolant out of the engine.

Unfortunately the nearest exit was in a part of town I am never in after dark. We called triple A for a tow to the VW place and waited with the car till the tow truck arrived. The driver was just a sweet huge bear of a man.

I heard sirens and told Lu "they" were coming for her since she broke my car. From the opposite direction was more sirens. A police officer pulled up were I was standing and asked "Did you hear shots fired?" (can I just say: GULP!)

I told the officer the tow truck was too loud I could not hear anything over the sound of the motor. Scared the spit right out of me. I am not a fan of being around when someone is shooting a gun, at night, by a busy interstate, in a large city, in a questionable part of town. I just wanted to go home.

While we sat in our broken car at the VW dealership on Memorial we watched several cars racing down the street. I just could not believe how wild the kids were acting and how dangerous they were driving. Finally the police arrived and were chasing cars down.

The city laid off 21 police officers to cut cost and hired 18 back a week or so later. They need to hire another 100 officers to help keep our town safe. We have so many different gangs and wanna be tough guys and gals Tulsa is just not safe any more...........or I am just getting too old for this kinda stuff. :o)

Bless my sweet niece for coming and picking us up and delivering us safely home. I need to go to sleep but my mind is racing and my tummy is upset.

Poor ol'Lu has to be at work at 9 a.m. Pity those that have to work around her :o)

This fuchsia is so very beautiful. I have been protecting it from the freezes we have had. I just hate to let it go.

Poor baby Carter has had a stuffie nose. He wants to be held ALL the time.....if his human is standing up walking. If we sit down with him he gets mad and takes off. He is getting ready to jump up to my chest as I take his picture.

As you can see we have more leaves on the stairs and tracked thru the house than we should.

I HATE fire

Oh geeeezzzzzzz!

We went to Kansas for a birthday party tonight. They had a huge, roaring fire going in this huge pit. Long store bought wiener sticks. Did I mention the fire was HOT!!!

I BURNT my hands. I kept moving back from the fire but by the time I got my wiener slightly warm the back of both of my hands started hurting. I went into the kitchen where there was good light and the back of both hands was bright red. I ran cold water over my hands so they would quit burning. Have your ever!?!

Oh goodness they still are uncomfortable! I used to roast wienies all the time as a kid and while my child was little and NEVER burnt my skin.

The party was fun. The fellowship was awesome. I am off to put cream on my hands.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love watching tornadoes. Especially when it does no harm. There are several indications of tornadoes bouncing around Oklahoma today.

We are having lots of storms rolling through today. Thunder so hard it rumbles the windows sometimes. The rain is stinging, driven by the hollowing wind. Bye pretty leaves...hello rake.

A lovely day to curl up with a nice cup of relaxing tea, watch and listen from my comfy chair to mother nature at her best.

Saying Good bye

I am finally selling stuff from my moms house. Saying goodbye to all her lovely lovelies.

It is really hard to go to her house knowing she is not now nor will she ever be in her home again........ I wanted to donate everything to charity. Lou wanted to sell it all so I would have more cash to purchase stuff for mom. So I am selling stuff. Her bird baths and kitchen stove went today along with a ton of nic nacks. Bed room furniture will be picked up tomorrow. How does ones heart not break? How can I let go of the past with out tears?

We are having our first bad freeze tonight. All the plants will be gone tomorrow as I do not have a green house to over winter the beautiful beauties I had the pleasure of tending this year.

The sun will be out tomorrow and I will be in a better mood.

A few leads

I have a couple of leads on jobs.

One is with the Cherokee Nation. They email me after they received my resume to fill out an application.

One job is teaching "Cultural Enrichment" for the school system here. They prefer the instructor speak Cherokee. Since I know some French I should be able to learn Cherokee? How hard could it be?? gulp

Found out today that my drivers license is expired! Last month.........geesh.....I do not want to take the drivers test again. Good thing they requested my DL number on the application.

Oh what a night!

or more accurately morning. (monster dog, sweet BaiLea above)

I just got comfy in my warm bed when my dd burst into my room yelling "the dogs are out of the yard!" It was almost 3 a.m. ugh!

We are getting ready for the sale over at my moms house and are including our junk in her sale. Lu (for some reason?) went to the pole barn out back and left the side gate open. While she was out on the patio smoking she saw the dogs in the neighbors yard. Then it started misting. So I pulled on my jeans over my night gown and ran out side bare footed walking very fast up and down the block whisper yelling MAGGIE!

Luckily she caught BaiLea and I heard my beagle barking at me as she ran back into our yard. All is well except we along with the dogs are now VERY wet. So I get back in bed and keep noticing a light flashing out front. We have had a rash of "someone" busting out car windows and stealing stuff from autos in our area so I think someone either heard us or saw us walking in yards, thinking we are up to no good and called the police. I pull on my clothes to go out and tell the officers it was just us looking for our dogs.

It is now around 4 a.m.

As I head out the front door I see that Lu has placed all the boxes for the garage sale on our covered porch. The cover is a sun shade and does not keep driving rain off the porch. Well the lights I had been seeing was lightning and it was gearing up for a good storm. So now WE are out there hauling boxes back into the house so all our junk does not get ruined..........at FOUR in the morning and it was raining hard so once again we got soaked.

Needless to say it was close to SIX a.m. before all was settled down and back to sleep. Now I am so very tired. I still need to go into the store and work on the books. I just love the first of the month. :o)

I for one will be so glad when all of this stress is over.

What on earth happened to our summer? I think we went straight into the down side of fall. It has been cold and moist here. I was thinking we could have a nice long Indian summer. Blame Brooks and Dun. Their latest song is to blame. :o)

As you can see in the pic above Carter and Jai take over my sewing machine space every time I leave the room. Jai is usually on the bottom lounging by my feet.

I am ready for Monday. How about you?

Sue Spargo Eye Candy

the quilt above is Sue Spargo design made by another lady whose name I can't remember. It was so very beautiful in person.

When I took Sues picture (see post below) she gave me permission to post these pictures. I can't post all of the pics I took as there were two unpublished quilts at the trunk show that she asked us not to post. Of course I forgot the two we can't show. So I am only posting the safe ones.

I absolutely love giraffes. This is such a cute quilt.

I bought a bunch of decorators sample books so I will use that fabric to make a couple of purses and dd back pack.

Sue Spargo

Thursday evening was Sue Spargo Trunk Show. OH MY GOSH! This is one talented lady.

From 9:00 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. was a wonderful all day class with Sue showing us how to do some of the cool things she does. Sue is so sweet. She kindly showed us steps over and over until we all got them. We played with the most beautiful wool. At 50.00 to 60.00 a yard I could only purchase inches of some cool colors. I will post a pic of the class project when I get it finished.

Crazy quilting had prepared me for a lot of the stitches we used to create our wonderfully textured piece. I can also use the fibers, velvets, buttons, and metal that was purchased while I was pretending to be a crazy quilter.

We spent the night in Rogers, Arkansas last night since we would have to get up and gone before seven a.m. to be in time for class. Our hotel room smelled clean as it was a non smoking room but my daughters pillow smelled like sour sweet ( I bought a new neck pillow at Wal Mart so I did not use the hotel pillows) and the shower would not work.

Bikers, Blues and BBQ is going on this week end at Fayetteville, AR so the few hotel rooms available had DOUBLED their prices. I told the lady at the hotel it was good for her but hard on my wallet. However, I did not want to drive two hours home and then turn around and go right back so I paid the charge.

It is so quite here tonight as our puppies are at the Bed and Breakfast in Grove. We were too late to get them out tonight. I will be up bright and early tomorrow to go pick my fur babies up and bring them home.

Quilts of Valor

Amanda over on "crazy mom quilts" invited 59 of her readers (first 59 that signed up) to make one red, white, and blue 12.5 x 12.5 block. She reserved the right to toss any block that did not meet the size requirement. Now I understand why!

The above laying on my 12.5 by 12.5 template is the first block I made. You can see it was off by a LOT. (pale green border around the sides)

Above is the second block. Still does not make the cut as too much of the template is showing.

YEAH! the third one is right on the money, well almost. (sorry for the flash glare) I only had to trim two little tiny places.

Man how do quilters do it perfect all the time? I made my first template out of soft plastic sheet.........I kept cutting the template every darn time I used it! So of course it just kept getting smaller and smaller.

Finally I asked my daughter to pick up a 4.5x4.5 thick template before she came home yesterday evening. I still had problem with cutting but slippage was the problem this time. My poor old hands are so tired. But I have finally completed the the needed block.

I plan to send her the boo boo blocks just in case she plans a quilt using smaller blocks or for a dust rag :o) . My block will be winging its way across the country later today.

Off to get some shut eye.

Polka Spots

I just love polka spots. Don't know where or when it all began but I have noticed for the last couple of years any thing with polka spots draws my attention. I also love black and white checker board cloth. It really draws my eye into the project.

I bought a chest at Hobby Lobby a few months back. I had no idea how to gussy it up until Suze over at "pink crayon studio" posted some box projects she has been working on for her studio. I had purchased some polka dotted paper to stuff in a gift and just could not bring myself to use it! Just seemed wrong to crunch up that beautiful spotted paper and stuff it in a bag just to be put in the trash after. Now it will become one of the layers on my chest.

Only one area is a concern. Some how something got on the corner of the chest and stained it. I will have to do something to get my paper to stick.

Pictures will follow later today if I can get the layers to dry. Since we are having a cool rainy, sunless day I may have to finish it up tomorrow.

Oh and I finally get to do a "Quilt of Valor" block! I received an e mail from Amanda Jean at "crazy mom quilts" to send a block to her. I will whip that out today also.

Second Oh, btw I am listening to music again! Be glad you can't her me singing along!

One cool Tool

I bought a Kindle for my daughter as an early birthday gift a few months back. She has raved about it since. Course it was NOT on sale when I purchased it :o(

Since I could not play on my computer since the electric cord stopped working I have been reading more. It seemed I was at WalMart every day or so buying more books. Last evening it was nearly midnight I was searching for a new book to read. I had just finished up Yasmine Galenorns' "A Harvest of Bones". I told my daughter this was the only one of her books I had seen at our WalMart. As it was the fourth in her series I wanted to get the first book and read forward.

Lulu said she was reading a "hard" book (paper) at the time so I could use her Kindle if I wanted to! Since she only had great things to say about it I finally gave in. Well! let me tell you I am a convert. It was such a cool experience. I sat in my den at nearly midnight, typed "Galenorn" into her Kindle and up pops all of the books by that author. I picked the first one in her series and in LESS than a minute the book had downloaded and I was reading!!!! The cost of the book was a little more (less than a dollar) than I would have paid for the paperback at WalMart! Just think of the gas I saved not to mention the the money I would have spent as I walked thru the store when I noticed things I "needed'. The only bad part is I am a fast reader so this could end up being kinda expensive if I decide not to wait until the new books arrive at the library. Any way I think I may be in LOVE with cool little devise.

Also the Kindle does not weigh very much so it is easier on my hands to hold which in turn puts less stress on my elbow.

The Kindle store is open 24/7. I could be in the middle of Grand Lake and still download a book! How awesome is that?

Off to finish my book :o)

Problem!

Quilt Guild news

Quilts of Valor will be hosting a new challenge. They stated there are 2.7 MILLION quilters in the good ol US of A. Their challenge is for ONE million of these quilters to make a new quilt using the new pattern designed by a Pryor Quilt Guild member, "Touched by War." We were delighted to see a picture of the quilt that was overnighted to Washington to be at the new release. Michele Obama will be endorsing this challenge.

Close to the end of this year the quilt will be on Martha Stewart's show. Any person that has participated in any war will now be eligible to receive a quilt, not just those that are fighting terrorism. At this time it was not known if the quilt pattern will be free for us to make a quilt from or if it will be used as a fund raiser. Any way you look at I am totally excited I get to participate in the making of Quilts of Valor!

Unfortunately I did not have my camera with so I could not take a picture and as a new member I did not know the lady's name that designed the quilt. I think they said Lee Ann. They did say she is in the process of having her second book published and she has self published patterns before. Just so exciting! The quilt would be very beautiful made in bright colors.

Creating Keepsakes Convention in Tulsa was a bit of a disappointment this week end. The number of vendors was WAY down. I was shocked at the amount of empty space on the floor.

I guess that might have helped me save some cash. However, a new place from Rose, Oklahoma was there with Maya Road! I do love me some Maya Road, actually about EVERYTHING they make. Bare cardboard is my thing. There was also more glitter stuff around. I purchased a nice kit while I was in Houston at the International Quilt show last October so I had to augment that kit with a few new glitters.

Technique Tuesday had some nice new stamp sets that had to come home with me. I found one TT stamp set I am going to alter to make a personalized stamp for the stuff I make. There was also a Close to My Heart booth so I picked up a couple of stamp sets from them. Also, Maya Road has stamps now! I got two cute hooters for fall cards/projects.

I signed up for Michaels internet ads and they sent me a 50% off coupon! Since there is a Michaels right there by where they were having CKC I popped in to purchase a new brayer with my coupon. I found the MOST awesome Tim Holtz stamps there. They weren't on sale so I have put them on my list really would like to have items when they are cheaper. I must have his Paris stamp set for my new French altered book. I also want some of his pens and other goodies. Good thing I will now get the ads by e mail :o)

I had a 40% off coupon for Hobby Lobby so that was my next stop. I purchased another stamp set there as they were kinda in the shape of postage stamps and I LOVE all things that look like postage.

Next coupon was for JoAnn's. I need/want one of those purple suction cup handles for my quilt rulers. I can't seem to find one any where. So I spent my coupon on a 2.5 inch binder ruler. They also had 5 simplicity patterns for five bucks so I had to pick up a couple more. I need to make my mom some aprons with multi pockets so she can carry around all her paraphernalia as she rolls around in her wheel chair and a lap blanket pattern with pockets. Simplicity has several neat patterns for the elderly.

After a soup lunch at Olive Garden (yum I just love garlic) I popped over to Handcocks. I found the cutest Halloween cat fabric to make moms apron with a bit left over for my scrap bin. I think I will make her a new one for each month so she won't get board with them or if she absolutely hates them she can just toss the ones she doesn't like. Handcocks did not have the suction cup handle for my quilt rulers either. Guess I will have to look online for one. I did find some little metal charms on clearance (71 cents each!) to use on my Sue Spargo wall quilt. I am really looking forward to taking Sue's class next month in Rogers, AR as I was looking at the wool fabric and did not have a clue what else I need to purchase.

Off to clean and get ready for the coming week. Since I had so much "fun" shopping I am going to have to put in extra hours at my two jobs to pay for it. There is always a price to pay :o)

Tummy Bug

A nasty tummy bug has been giving me problems since Tuesday. The nasty weather along with allergies has just made this past week miserable.

Good news is I a much better than yesterday so tomorrow will be a wonderful day :o)

I have not felt like reading this week. I have mainly just been flipping thru my magazines dreaming, as usual, of the projects I want to do.

I need a big crown stencil for a project I have designed. I have searched the net but have been unable to locate one.

My sweet daughter made banana pudding to help me feel better. She is such a sweetie.

Awesome Fabric store

I visited The Rabbits Lair in Rogers, Arkansas yesterday. OH MY! such a treat. This place is awesome. They carry tons of fabric, wool, patterns, sewing aids and of course thread.

Down in their basement is the marked down fabric, patterns, ect. I was luck to leave there with the gold in my teeth.

They are displaying Sue Spargos trunk items and she will be teaching classes there next month. I just love the bright colors she uses as I really dislike the dull, dark colors most folk artist use. Her wall hangings are just beautiful. I purchased a couple of her books and one pattern before they sell out, as you know they will as soon as Sue arrives.

I will try to post a picture of the bag I am working on.

I am feeling under the weather today. Old bones creaking and cracking every time I turn my head. So I am just surfing, reading, and of course eating grapes .

We were welcomed to the Emerald City upon our arrival in the theater.

Glenda's dress on stage was sooooo very beautiful. It just sparkled and shined. Glenda and Effie could really belt a song. Sometime the sound was so loud we could not understand the individual words. However the sound of their voices were so smooth and lovely.

Here is Lu before we entered the PAC.

We saw these bike things from the BOK center up to the PAC. Guess it would keep one from walking a long distance to the event you were attending.

Lu wants a smart car. This one was parked by us so she had to snap a pic.

This was the firs time we saw the BOK center as we do not hang around downtown very often. It is on HUGE beauty.

The buildings along 3ed street from the PAC down to the BOK have been all spiffed up. There are even a couple of beautiful murals painted. We had a car behind us so the picture did not come out well.

Since there is all kinds of road construction going on we arrived EARLY then drove down third and finally ended up at Ron's Burgers for a fast supper. Let me tell ya GREASE was the word for the meal. They put two slices of cheese on the burgers. Most have the onions cooked in. My burger was just gross with grease and cheese. I scrapped off the cheese and covered the meat in ketchup and it was still gross and way to spicy for me. Lu ordered a burger that had a slice of ham on top of the meat and cheese. We had the BEST onion rings I had the pleasure to eat in a long time along with okra. Like I said GREASE was the word.

Since I have not read WICKED the whole play was an adventure to me. I absolutely loved the ending. Lu is going to get the book so I will read it after her. She also wants to read Son of a Witch. I really liked the take on OZ this author had as it was very up beat.

Doing some cleaning this week end and then working on my quilt top.

We got ready to go to church this evening and I could not locate my car keys. I had to have the keys to get in the house. My daughter has looked for them every place we can think of and they are still AOL. Good thing I have a spare car key. Now I will have to get an extra h0use key.
